Super Disappointment

February 3, 2008

I am not too happy with the Super Bowl.

First – the commercials. Were there really any good ones this year? A couple of good beer commercials, but overall – very disappointing.

Second – the game. At first I was happy with the pace of the game. Seriously, how fast was the 1st quarter? Then, I was just bored by the 2nd-3rd quarters.

Third – Halftime. Tom Petty? I don’t think I could have told you any songs that he sung. I do like, Free Falling, or whatever the song title is, but he was obviously lip-synching (?sp) and honestly, nothing exciting happened.

Fourth – the outcome. I really wanted the Patriots to win. They did not deserve to win tonight due to their poor play, but still… 17-14? Ridiculous. And now the stupid ’72 Dolphins can drink their champagne once again and claim they are still the only perfect team ever.

Blah, blah, blah.

Bring on March Madness!!!!

Why can’t the US have game shows like this?

Doesn’t the third guy look like Kevin Spacey?

Spelling Bee draws bigger audience than NBA Eastern Conference Finals and NHL Stanley Cup

Last Thursday night’s Scripps National Spelling Bee on ABC drew more viewers than Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Cleveland Cavs and Detroit Pistons. More people tuned in to watch 13-year old Evan M. O’Dorney (7.1 million viewers) win the Spelling Bee than tuned in to watch LeBron James’ historic 48 point, 9 rebound, 7 assist performance (5.6 million viewers). You think the NBA is feeling bad about this? How about the NHL? The Spelling Bee drew roughly 5 times as many viewers as the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are drawing on Versus and even NBC.

Craziness

May 17, 2007

Let’s talk craziness.

#1 – American Idol – while I’m not totally surprised with Melinda being kicked off, it’s still crazy.

#2 – America’s Next Top Model – what’s up with Jaslene winning? However… Natasha would have been horrible. And, since none of the winners have really done anything (besides marry a former Brady) I guess it doesn’t matter. Crazy nonetheless though.

#3 – This Story. Freakishly crazy and somewhat sickening.

#4 – Linkin Park. Their new CD “Minutes to Midnight” is crazy good. I give it a 8 out of 10. Here’s their first single.

#5 – The Office. Wow! Boob job, Shrute Bucks, breakups, firings, hirings and hook ups. CRAZY!!!
